Selangor and Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Contractors Association (“The Guild”). The Guild was established on 1-4-1918. The Guild is also known as Kin Cho Hong. It’s a 107 years establishment. The members of the Guild consist of Developers, Main Contractors, Subcontractors, Engineers, Architects, Quantity Surveyors and members from all trades in the construction related works.
The Guild initial purpose was as place for its members to liase with each other and gather to study the Chinese Master Luban’s art of leaning technology, where apprentice learns a craft and technology for his living, for the welfare of the members and families. Luban was a Chinese carpenter, engineer, philosopher, inventor and contemporary of Mozi. The teachings emphasised the belief of professional responsibility and morality.
Now, the main objects of the Guild are “to promote friendly feelings among member, to study and research constructional art, including business development and to contrive for the welfare of members and charity for the public”.
Pursuant to these objects, steps shall be taken to advocate and achieve this object for the members’ benefits and welfare including to enhance or improve the development and opportunities. It is also with the vision to learn, explore and expand into overseas markets in Southeast Asia and China, for a dynamic and strategic collaboration.
The Guild hopes those engaged in the construction industry or construction related business to join the association as platform and will rebrand and upgrade the association to be more dynamic and effective platform for members to express views relating to issues or problems faced in construction industry. To achieve this ambitious goal, the Guild will first focus on EMEE:
1. Effective Networking and Embracing globalization.
2. Maintaining Luban’s spirit of unity with its rich culture and traditions
3. Educational programs
4. Engaging with Government authorities to embrace Innovation and Change.
